THE INTERMEDIATE WING CHUN CLASS

Once students have fully grasped the concepts of Wing Chun for self defence, they progress to a higher tier of structured and more formal martial arts training. Indeed, Intermediates primarily need to drill and refine the Wing Chun concepts so that these martial arts techniques become second nature and automatic. Furthermore, students at this stage also focus on understanding Wing Chun as a martial art and spend a significant amount of time developing their ability to apply the concepts of the Sui Nim Tao (1st) Form.

Here our Intermediate Wing Chun students focus on developing their understating of how to move effectively according to the concepts of the Wing Chun Wooden Dummy Form. Intermediate Wing Chun students practice these set combinations in formal drills that develop the ability to judge distance, speed, and the movement of an attacker. Combinations are a formal pattern of general martial arts skills that are not meant to simulate an attack, rather develop the skills necessary to promote to good balance and structure while under pressure.

The primary difference between beginners and intermediates Wing Chun students is that our intermediates spend more time working on their footwork and distance judgement skills in a  authentic manner. Yet, intermediate training also involves the introduction to controlled Wing Chun sparring (Gor Sao), Dan Chi Sao, and more complex turning and sticking drills intended to improve the ability to keep an attacker off you.

Lets not forget that Intermediates are also able to join in the Fitness & Conditioning Classes, as well as the Pad, Bag & Blast Classes! Making their training a well rounded martial arts experience.
