Profile of Chris Cranie Lo-Si

Chris is one of our most experience Instructors in London Wing Chun Academy. He was voted UK Student of the year in 2005 by his fellow peers. This prestigious title was awarded as a result of a national ballot of all the Instructors of UK Wing Chun Association. Hence he was selected for his hard work, dedication and is now recognised in our Wing Chun ‘Hall of Fame’.

In the same year, Chris accompanied Mark Phillips Sifu to Hong Kong for the Ving Tsun Athletic Association Second World Conference. There he was able to ‘touch hands’ with students from various Wing Chun schools who had gathered from around the world, thus exposing himself to different variations of the art form. This included participating in a 200 man Chi Sau event in Sha Tin. An event opened and organised by the Grand Master Yip Chun himself.

Chris has had the opportunity to specialise in western boxing since being at the academy. This has given him the foundations to develop an excellent approach to fighting in San Shou (Chinese kickboxing). As a result of this experience, he is a valid member of our San Shou team.

As Chris is knowledgeable to the art, his teaching methods are innovative, proficient and natural. Chris currently teaches Wing Chun to beginners as well as fitness and conditioning classes.

‘When I was a beginner, I remember turning up at the Kwoon for an early class and being the only person there. Nevertheless, my Instructor took me through the lesson he had planned with the same passion and charisma as he would have, if he had had a class full of students’.
